Dual Axis Goniometry

UHV Design develop and manufacture customised goniometer platforms for a variety scientific applications.  Following is an example of one such platform, giving an insight into the layout and performance of a UHV Design goniometer.

Custom designed goniometer platform, configured to support angular resolved analysis instruments. The platform has a full 360° of polar rotation combined with a 100° azimuthal axis. Both axes have independent control and may be hand operated or stepper motor driven . The goniometer platform is custom built offering an element of flexibility for instrument mounting options. 

Rotation is transmitted into the vacuum through a unique feedthrough system. An MD35 is mounted to a hollow MD64H MagiDrive providing two concentric axes of rotation. MagiDrive rotary feedthroughs are precision, high torque, fully UHV compatible components. An all-metal enclosure separates the inner driven shaft from the outer drive thimble, eliminating the risk of leaks or gas bursts on rotation.
