| Introduction |

Linear power options |
|
Building on the success of the MagiDrive
as the best magnetically coupled rotary feedthrough in the UHV market,
UHV Design has developed a second magnetic coupling specifically for
linear motion. This coupling forms the basis of the Professional
Transfer Tool range, providing linear or combined linear and rotary
motion within ultra high vacuum. These unique probes remove the
limitations of conventional designs, offering up to an order of
magnitude improvement in key aspects of performance. |
|
In addition to the ‘standard’ and
‘high’ linear power configurations, a third ‘low power’ option
is also available. The benefit of this is that, for certain
applications, such as vacuum screwdrivers, some linear strain is
considered an advantage. |

| Performance Power |
|
|
|
Professional Transfer Tools have
unrivalled transmission performance. For example, the standard linear
coupling has a break-away force of 180N (40lbf), in comparison to the
limited 26-50N of our nearest competitors. A high power option is also
available, with a staggering 310N (69lbf).
In terms of rotation, the rotary
transmission is essentially based upon the MD35
MagiDrive delivering 4Nm break-away torque. This is four times the
level offered by our nearest competitor. The unique rotary coupling
retains the notorious angular rigidity of the MagiDrive series. |

Tools for the Task |
|
The Professional Transfer Tools are
fully bakeable to 250°C and do not require dismantling of any sort. The
probes are suitable for use between atmospheric pressure and ultra high
vacuum. |
|
No single, magnetically coupled probe
will meet all the demands of vacuum system designers. In order to
exploit these demands, we have developed our couplings into four
discrete products. |
