Ultrasonic Cleaning technician



UHV Design is an ISO certified, world leading supplier of ultra-high-vacuum motion and heating Products. These are precision instruments requiring a high attention to detail particularly relating to the cleaning processes & required surface finishes. The ultrasonic cleaning technician role requires a proactive and hands-on attitude with the enthusiasm to learn and develop into a key member of the team, taking responsibility for the success of our products and our customers. As part of a small, supportive team, you will be jointly responsible for the department’s throughput, quality, transaction accuracy, documentation, and on time delivery, all of which are key to our business.

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • The Primary role of the ultrasonic cleaning technician is to clean components to an Ultra High Vacuum Standard using our ultrasonic cleaning baths, select and use suitable Bagging / Protect materials and methods to minimise transit and handling damage and accurately transact the processed components onto ERP stock ready for either Kitting or Storing.
  • Accurately maintain a stock of Consumables such as cleaning fluids, bagging materials, raising Purchase Requisitions for approval in plenty of time.
  • Support the cleaning dept supervisor in all daily activities with regular communication and early flagging of any issues that arise.
  • Attend and actively participate in meetings with other departments when required, preparing and providing all requested information.
  • Assisting the cleaning supervisor to document and perform all TPM tasks as per the required schedule, notifying them of any issues found and areas requiring improvement.
  • Actively engage in identifying opportunities to improve the Cleaning Department processes, productivity or quality that may require additional support or investment.
  • Be willing to positively engage in additional training for yourself, demonstrating best practice & safe working procedures at all times.
  • Following all UHV Design Health and Safety procedures and risk assessments highlighting shortfalls or new hazards.
  • Network with other UHV Design Team Members to identify opportunities.

You will also need a good eye for detail, be a strong self-starter and a fast learner with a cheerful proactive outlook.


No previous experience in ultrasonic cleaning for UHV applications is necessary as full training will be given, however, the following skills / experience would be an advantage:

  • Experience in a hands-on role in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience of working in an ISO 9001 process-driven industry.
  • Experience with using MRP / ERP systems.
  • Knowledge of surface finishes and inspection of parts.
  • Some understanding of reading engineering drawings.
  • Some understanding of machining processes (turning / milling)

The role is based at our site in Laughton, near Lewes and the hours are:

7:30-4:30 Mon-Thu 7:30-1:30 Friday
